DONATE TO OLLI AT FSU
Donations from OLLI members help us maintain a high-quality program. These gifts allow us to offer diverse courses and lectures, compensate instructors fairly, keep membership fees affordable, organize interesting activities, and sponsor scholarships for deserving FSU students.
CHOICES IN MAKING DONATIONS
There are several ways to donate to OLLI at FSU:
- Cash gifts: Donate online here or print and mail the form available here.
- Gifts with tax benefits or income for the donor: If you have questions about any of these, consult with Katherine Cline Ashler, Senior Director of Development, College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, at (850)-294-3343 or kcline@foundation.fsu.edu. Some alternatives include:
Tax-free gifts from an IRA
If you're over 70 ½ and must take a Required Minimum Distribution but don't need the income, you may avoid taxes by donating directly to a qualified charity like OLLI. This method is commonly referred to as an IRA Charitable Rollover or Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
Gifts that provide income to donors
Vehicles such as Charitable Gift Annuities or Charitable Remainder Trusts provide income to the donor or heirs while also providing tax benefits.
Other assets
Donating stocks or mutual funds that have appreciated significantly in value can provide important tax benefits, as can gifting real estate such as homes, land or commercial property.
Legacy gifts
Naming OLLI at FSU as a beneficiary in wills or trusts, or as a beneficiary on investment accounts or insurance policies, is a simple and easy way to donate.
DONOR RECOGNITION
We recognize the generosity of our donors in several ways, including:
Early recognition for donors
for members who donate $1,000 or more on an annual basis or exceed $10,000 lifetime giving for as long as they are members.
Honor Rolls
for OLLI, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy and/or FSU, depending on the amount of gift.
Invitations to annual donor events
organized by OLLI, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy or FSU, depending on the amount of gift.
OLLI garnet and gold stickers
to place on your OLLI nametag to show that you are a donor.
