“OLLI brings so much enrichment to my retirement life! And I’ve made so many new friends. Learning and laughing makes for great times!”

Osher Lifelong Learning

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Florida State University is an exciting, challenging scholarly program tailored for adults 50 and older who love to learn in a stress-free environment where there are no tests and no homework. Designed as a member-centered organization, OLLI allows students to expand their intellectual horizons, engage in social activities, participate in volunteer opportunities and hold key leadership positions within the organization.

Lifelong learning at FSU has come a long way since its inception in 1991, when seven students first gathered at the FSU Reservation to take two classes. Today, thanks to the generous support of many contributors, OLLI at FSU is flourishing, with more than 1000 members, nearly 100 classes annually and a multitude of social and cultural activities.

OLLI is associated with the Pepper Institute on Aging under FSU’s College of Social Science and Public Policy, and receives the majority of its funding from membership and course fees, along with spendable income from a generous endowment from The Bernard Osher Foundation. The Osher Foundation funds lifelong learning institutes at 120 colleges and universities throughout the country.

RELIVE HISTORY, EXPERIENCE THE ARTS, AND CREATE A NEW PASSION!

OLLI offers classes during a 6-week Fall Term, a 6-week Spring Term and a 6-week Summer Term. Classes are held on campus at The Claude Pepper Center, other FSU locations and additional offsite venues. At this time most classes are held via distance learning through the Zoom platform. Classes are scheduled during the weekdays for two hours each week. Evening classes are also offered Thursdays, and Saturday classes are periodically available. Our classes are taught by current and retired faculty from FSU, FAMU, TCC, doctoral graduate students, and experts in our community and throughout the word. Topics range from Art and Music to World History, Science, Current Events, Writing and Language.

OLLI classes will educate, amuse, and challenge you. Come for the classes; stay for the friendships.
